Music and poetry
You’re working day, you’re working night; you’re busy, so you feel all right;
But doing things without thoughts is to live life like a goat.
How would you know you’re on the way? That you’re well and what to pray?
It’s like t’drive on an Interstate when an exit's seen, but much too late.
Before reversing, slow and steady to reach where you've been already,
Before big problems bell the tocsin, you need to take a Sabbath de’tox in,
So, Friday night we focus on sights and mothers light two candlelights,
We stop to move our hands around; we only think of what we’re proud of.
We think what’s “done”, what could go wrong, what needs a fix, where we belong.
How strait our values, strong our faith, who’s still our friend or just pretends.
We think through night, over sunrise, until the time for stars arise,
Then we begin the next workweek – to build our Temple brick by brick.
Without a Sabbath cleanse of souls, we could be used for someone’s goals,
Misguide our work and treasured thoughts, to act as useful idiots.
Missing our Sabbath thinking time, we would not have a peace of mind,
Or the next week just to think or stare because no plan, that sounds fair!
How crucial is a given time? How? Tuba-Tuba-Tuba Rhyme-Rhyme-Rhyme.
Your minutes jingling like dimes. How? Tuba-Tuba-Tuba Chime-Chime-Chime.
Our days ‘like spit-out cherry seeds. How? Tuba-Tuba-Tuba Bit-Bit-Bit;
Months like the berries on your tongue. How? Succulent but don’t last for long!
Years like a Sukkah up and down How? Years-after-years flew around.
Decades, are walking slower then: How? Walking, walking, walking 1 to 10
So, a life is crawling anyhow... Just rarely, nine decades allowed.
Though, seems you can try hard forever, there’s never time to think or stare…
