The Ninth Commandment
Thou shalt not bear false witness

                                                              I
From envy’s sense to greater sins decay of baby souls begins,
Lies start to cover little shames, then bring sophisticated games
Of cunning, conning, slander's crimes, - which mean more than to be unkind,
Toward office gossips, of all kinds that slaughter colleagues from behind!
The souls that suffer are unclear plant childish lies to cover fears:
Unsteady minds, in moody ways, don’t grasp the words they scream or say.
But habits to deceive in small, make to get used to cheating goals:
Their challenged looks are just facades, to hide what's going on inside

                       Refrain
You've told lies once, repeated it twice, then pure truth seems not precise
Getting away with lying ‘skill’ is spinning off such sinful wheels!
                       And every other gimmick
                       Does that from the beginning.
When envy has been overgrown, to keep it deeply as your own
It starts a play from Dante’s acts: to find the way to twist the facts.
                                                              II
“White lies” are moved by noble aims, to soften truth and heal a pain
But good intentions are inflamed by paving ways to hell’s terrains,
Delusions last a lifetime long, until truth proves that lies are wrong
Besides, Kant also could explain such liars’ shameless selfish gain.
Some also lie to fit desire to smear one who should be admired,
They’re seeking weeny little flaws, inflating logs from tiny straws
Their envy seeks “equalities” to cover losers’ qualities.
Their way to mutual respect - to lie that winner ’s incorrect.
                                                          Refrain
                                                             III
As when the others toot your horn, it’s stronger than your boasts can spawn,
he same well-plotted falsehood spun, makes hard to pardon a blamed one
There are so many ways of slander, which mix truth and lies like a blender.
The smart accusers state some truth to open hearts for lies misuse.
To follow falsely witnessed acts: the whispers, smearing, gloating whacks,
Then envy’s cheating, that appears in sports, competing, and careers,
Because accused men with no guilt keep smelling like unpleasant silt
When lies are opened, truth revealed, apologies are an easy deal.

                                                          Refrain
                                                                                              2024-25
